Camping and Beaches

The beautiful white sand beaches in the Shire of Ravensthorpe are among the most pristine and untouched in the country.

You have plenty of options when considering a camping trip to the Fitzgerald Coast. There are caravan parks in town and plenty of bush campgrounds scattered along the coastline.

The Shire of Ravensthorpe hosts popular campgrounds with toilets, gas BBQ, foot access to beach and perfect spots for swimming, fishing and whale watching.

Mason Bay 

Marvellous Mason Bay is 38kms east of Hopetoun and accessible by 2WD via Southern Ocean Road, which is a lovely scenic drive.

The bush campground setting is right on the beach and has long drop toilet facilities and dump points.

The campground has no power (generators permitted) and you will need to bring your own drinking water as no potable water available.

Phone signal is intermittent. Perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle of life and social media!

In December 2022 online booking with advance payment was introduced for the Mason Bay campground.

Starvation Bay 

The Starvation Bay campground is family friendly and very popular amongst visitors and locals.

It is located 48kms east of Hopetoun and is accessible by 2WD via the scenic Southern Ocean Road.

The bush campground setting is right on the beach and has long drop toilet facilities and dump points.

There is 4WD access to the beach and boat launching facilities.

The campground has no power (generators permitted) and you will need to bring your own drinking water as no potable water available.

Hamersley Inlet 

The Shire of Ravensthorpe provides a campground within the Fitzgerald River National Park at Hamersley Inlet.

The campground is 2WD access, has gas BBQ, toilets, and a small boat launch.

Perfect for fishing, nature study, relaxing and wildflower spotting, with close access to Hakea Walk Trail link

Fitzgerald River National Park

The Fitzgerald River National Park has some gorgeous beaches with excellent camping facilities.

All campsites within the national park need to be booked online directly with the Parks and Wildlife Service.

Munglinup Beach (managed by the Shire of Esperance)

Munglinup Beach is a fantastic spot you'll find almost at the halfway point between Ravensthorpe and Esperance.

The beach is protected by a reef and provides sheltered swimming and is a great spot for families.

The beach has 2WD access, a caravan park, campsite, toilets, foot access to beach where there are plenty of opportunities for fishing or whale watching.
