Cruise ship passengers to visit the Fitz

Exciting news! The Coral Adventurer, a 120-passenger cruise ship, is scheduled to anchor in Mary Ann Haven at around 12:30pm on Wednesday 9 October 2024.

Weather permitting, around 90 passengers will be ferried on shore where buses will be waiting to whisk them away on a whirlwind visit to view some of our farm gate art and to get a brief taster of the stunning wildflowers in the Fitzgerald River National Park.

With the support of Hopetoun Progress Association and Rave About Arts we hope to provide the opportunity for the visitors to mingle with locals either to welcome them on arrival or when they return to McCulloch Park around 4:00pm prior to their transfer back to the ship. The ship is scheduled to depart at 5:15pm.

The cruise ship is one of Cairns based Coral Expedition’s fleet and is purpose built to access remote wilderness shores in Australia and internationally, that are often inaccessible to large vessels.

The company’s focus is to discover unique and remote destinations, and attract small groups of likeminded explorers eager to seek remote places. Coral Expedition runs cruises to places like The Great Barrier Reef, Papua New Guinea, Spice Islands, Kimberley and Tasmania.

Fingers crossed the weather is perfect on the day as windy conditions or rough seas mean the cruise ship won’t be able to stop off at Hopetoun.
