As my time with the Shire of Ravensthorpe draws to a close, I’d like to express my deepest gratitude to our community for allowing me to serve you.
I was very lucky. I worked with a great bunch of dedicated people at the Shire and on Council right from the beginning when I started as a Councillor in November 2008. That continued when I served as Deputy President and also when I took on the role of President in 2015.
Our Shire is a remarkable place. It is filled with individuals who care deeply about their community and work tirelessly to make it a better place for all. I have seen our townships grow and flourish, our local businesses thrive, and our residents come together in times of need.
One of the projects I am most proud of is the Ravensthorpe Cultural Precinct.
Securing that funding due to the terrible drought we experienced and turning it into something to benefit the whole community was a real highlight for me.
Another important part of my time at Council I enjoyed and look back upon with satisfaction was working closely with the mining companies to bring financial gain to our community.
As was of course working closely with many different community groups and members who contribute their time and talents to various initiatives that have benefited our towns in countless ways.

During my time on Council there have been some challenging times, including fires, floods and drought. It was also extremely challenging losing two CEOs in the circumstances we did, but it was during those times that I witnessed the strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit of our community. Please keep supporting each other and working together to achieve great things for the Shire of Ravensthorpe. Our community is a shining example of what can be accomplished when people come together with a common purpose.
Thank you again for allowing me to serve you. It has been an incredible journey, and I am excited to see the bright future that lies ahead for the Shire of Ravensthorpe. I am confident that this community will continue to thrive under the leadership of our new president.
