A new artistic attraction is coming soon to Ravensthorpe's main street!
At the Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday 17 September 2024 Council agreed to a Genestremes Journey Sculpture being installed between Jubilee Park and the Ravensthorpe Cultural Precinct as part of the Genestremes of Gondwana Link Trail through the South West and the expanding national trail of Genestremes Journey Sculptures.
Currently spanning nine sites in southern Western Australia, this public art initiative showcases sculptures that combine multiple artworks celebrating the connection between the natural environment and Indigenous culture.
Students from Years 1 to 10 at Ravensthorpe District High School have been working with the Gondwana Link project team to help design artwork for the sculpture’s petals, incorporating local Indigenous knowledge and themes.
Funded by Lotterywest, the sculpture features both physical and augmented reality installations.
