The Shire of Ravensthorpe is trialling the permission of children in the Ravensthorpe Gym while their parents workout.
The trial will take place over the next three months and will allow children in the gym between 9am-11am Monday-Friday only.
A playpen area has been provided and the children must remain confined within the playpen or a pram at all times.
Parents will need to sign and return a waiver prior to bringing children into the gym.
Waivers can be collected from either of the Shire of Ravensthorpe offices or the Ravensthorpe Gym.
Shire listening to community needs
Chief Executive Officer Matthew Bird said this trial is due to interest from the community.
“We’ve heard from parents who are already using the gym at that time during the week that this would make things easier for them,” he said.
“Our aim is to support our community and provide options for them, so we’ll see how this trial goes and then it could be become a more permanent option.”
At this stage the trial is only for the Ravensthorpe Gym, but a similar trial could take place at the Hopetoun Gym if there is an interest for it.
